China's Walnut Exports Show Significant Growth, with Strong International Market Demand
Since 2025, China's walnut exports have shown a strong growth trend. According to customs statistics, from January to March 2025, the export value of Chinese walnuts (kernels) reached 260 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 131%, demonstrating the strong competitiveness of walnuts in the international market.
Among them, the walnut exports in Yunnan region are particularly outstanding. From January to February 2025, the Dali Customs inspected and exported 4,872.3 tons of walnuts, a year-on-year increase of 388.1%. In the production workshop of Weishan County Fulu Food Co., Ltd. in Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, workers are busy sorting, packing and loading walnuts. After being inspected and qualified by the customs officers of Dali Customs affiliated to Kunming Customs, batches of walnuts are transported to all parts of the world. At present, there are 72 walnut export enterprises in Dali Prefecture, and walnuts are exported to 37 countries and regions around the world.
Not only that, the walnuts in Changning, Baoshan have also emerged in the international market. In January 2025, the Tengchong Customs supervised the export of 17 batches of walnut kernels, with a total of 333.9 tons, achieving a "good start" in the new year. With the help of the Tengchong Customs, the walnut kernels in Changning have been successfully exported to 10 countries such as Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and North Macedonia.
In addition, Xinjiang walnuts have also been favored by the international market due to their excellent quality. Xianfeng Fruit Aksu Company expects that the export volume of Xinjiang 185 walnuts will break through 1,000 tons in 2025, and the first batch of 90 tons of products has been successfully shipped to the Turkish market previously.
From the perspective of the international market, due to the significant decline in Chilean walnut exports, international buyers are turning their attention more to Chinese walnuts. The share of Chinese walnuts in the international market is expected to further expand, and the future development prospects are broad.
