Recent market trends for dried chili peppers

Prices for various types of dried chili peppers in both northern and southern regions have remained weak but stable. On the supply side, the arrival of new-season dried chilies has been slow, partly because the busy agricultural season has yet to conclude. Furthermore, rainfall in northern regions later in the week hindered the delivery of chilies to markets, leading to a temporary contraction in available supply—with trading in some markets coming to a near standstill. On the demand side, buyers have remained cautious; they show limited willingness to accept high-priced stock, preferring instead to source more affordable, cost-effective options. Consequently, lower-priced chilies account for a larger share of transactions, while higher-priced goods face sluggish movement, occasionally resulting in a stalemate between buyers and sellers. Most procurement is currently conducted in small, as-needed batches, with little evidence of large-scale restocking.

Regarding Indian chili peppers, supply is ample, and sellers are keen to move their stock, offering a wide selection for buyers. However, downstream demand remains weak; procurement is largely limited to essential, selective purchasing. As a result, the pace at which stock is being absorbed remains slow, and there has been no significant uptick in transaction volume.
